Handmade means, made with the heart

In the 1950s, the Díaz grandparents founded "El Chapulín" in Jalisco Mexico, an artisanal serape factory, they were one of the first distributors of serape in the republic. They dyed the threads with leaves, petals and cochineal (prickly pear pest). For manufacturing they used hand-made wooden looms. As the years went by, the Díaz grandparents' children left their hometown, leaving the factory behind.

Katia arrives, granddaughter of the Díaz grandparents, a designer who loves textures, colors and culture. Wishing to have promoted "El Chapulín" he decided to continue the legacy of his family's sarape by hiring the children of the artisans who worked with his grandparents, obtaining the same quality and production technique.

This is how Gardi begins, with the sarape and now also with Guatemalan fabrics as its core, showing the importance of continuing with our looms, stopping their extinction and strengthening our traditions.
